  • Inferior Vena is the large vein in your abdomen that carries deoxygenated blood from the lower part of the body back to the heart.
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a condition where blood clots are formed in the deep vein of the thigh. This can lead to a blockage in the vessels.

  • The filter is inserted into the IVC through a small incision in the neck or groin. IVC filter is a small, metal device shaped like the spokes of an umbrella. The filter catches the blood clots and prevents them from reaching the lungs.
