TEVAR in Ahmedabad — Thoracic Endovascular Aortic

What Is TEVAR?

An aneurysm is a weakened, bulging section of the aorta;s wall. When this occurs in the chest portion of the aorta, TEVAR reinforces the vessel from inside using a covered stent-graft, reducing the risk of rupture without open surgery.

How Is TEVAR Done?

Detailed CT imaging maps the exact size, shape, and location of the aneurysm beforehand

A stent-graft is guided via catheter, usually from an artery in the groin, up to the aneurysm site

Using live X-ray imaging, the stent-graft is positioned precisely across the weakened section

Once released, it expands and reinforces the aortic wall from inside

Who Needs TEVAR?

Patients with a thoracic aortic aneurysm that has reached a size where treatment is recommended

Patients with anatomy suitable for a stent-graft approach, confirmed through imaging

Patients for whom open surgical repair of the chest aorta carries higher risk

What Are the Risks of TEVAR?

Bleeding or vascular access complications

Stent-graft migration or leakage (endoleak)

Risk to blood supply of the spinal cord in select cases

Infection

Frequently Asked Questions

Is TEVAR the same as TAVR?

No. TAVR treats the aortic valve; TEVAR treats the aorta;s wall itself, most often for an aneurysm. They address entirely different conditions despite the similar names.

Will I need follow-up after TEVAR?

Yes — regular imaging follow-up is recommended to confirm the stent-graft remains well-positione and the aneurysm is stable.
